Ifugao gov, a health champion too

(22Dec2011 by ifugaoposts)
Ifugao governor Eugene Balitang recently led the inauguration of two health centers, a testament for his mandate to improve health services in the province. The inauguration ceremonies were held on Dec. 19 for the Ducligan Clinic in Banaue and on Dec. 21 for the newly constructed Pieza Barangay Health Center in Lamut.
Along with other local officials in Banaue, Gov. Balitang formally opened the Ducligan Clinic which will benefit seven nearby barangays within Banaue (Ducligan, Bangaan, Banao, Anaba) and Mayoyao (Tulaed, Ayangan, Aduyungan). The said clinic was initially funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and started its construction during the administration of mayor Wesley Dulawan.

Meanwhile, the health center of Barangay Pieza was funded under the European Communities - Department of Health (EC-DOH) and the construction started during the administration of former governor Teddy Baguilat Jr. Local officials and residents of Lamut also joined the opening ceremony.
Balitang said that "with the establishment of the said health facilities, people need not go to the town center to seek for early treatment of their ailments. Pregnant women who are about to give birth will be taken cared of and this will save the lives of both mother and child." Health has been one of the priority programs of his administration. The sustainability of these health centers will be a shared responsibility between the provincial, municipal, and barangay governments.
