Ifugao passes resolutions to address effects of typhoon Pedring (by Mhars B. Lihgawon)

     LAGAWE, Ifugao, Sept. 30 (PIA) - - The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) passed this morning two resolutions to address the effects of typhoon “Pedring” in the different municipalities of the province.
     One of the resolutions was to allow Governor Eugene Ballitang to enter into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the National Food Authority (NFA) for a rice loan. The rice loan would be used purposely for food assistance to typhoon victims in the different municipalities.
   Another resolution is to request gasoline stations in the municipality of Lagawe to reserve fuel for the PDRRMC and the provincial local government unit (PLGU) to be used for calamity related activities especially rescue operation.
     Meanwhile, Vice Governor Pedro Mayam-o disclosed that the SP will conduct a special session to declare the province under a state of calamity so that the LGUs can use 20 percent of the calamity fund for rehabilitation.
     Mayam-o added that the declaration will help also the different municipalities in addressing the effect of the typhoon in their respective locality.
     Ifugao is one of the hardest hit by typhoon Pedring. At present, the PDRRM operation center recorded four deaths in the municipality of Hingyon, various damages to agriculture and infrastructure including the Burnay Bridge, a 35-meter national bridge leading to Lagawe from Kiangan, which totally collapsed at the height of the typhoon. *(JDP/MBL – PIA CAR, Ifugao)
