Regional University System soon to rise in Cordillera

(22Nov2011 by: ifugao posts)
The Cordillera Region University System (CRUS) will soon rise in the region through the initiative of the Cordillera Administrative Region Association of State Universities and Colleges (CARASUC).
The undertaking is in line with President Aquino's vision for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to have a very strong higher education in the country with a shared role of producing highly competent human resource.
In behalf of CARASUC, the CRUS was presented by Dr. Serafin L. Ngohayon (President of Ifugao State University) during the Regional Development Council (RDC-CAR) en banc meeting at Banaue Hotel on November 17, 2011.
Dr. Ngohayon said that CARASUC is now in the course of creating CRUS through an 'amalgamation' process. This process will make the six SUCs in the Cordillera region to become stronger and cost-effective. "By coming together, we can pursue mutual objectives at lesser cost and we can even maximize and gain from the strength and expertise of each other," Dr. Ngohayon said.
The six SUCs in the region funded by the government are the following: Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology (ASIST), Apayao State College (ASC), Kalinga Apayao State College (KASC), Benguet State University (BSU), Ifugao State University (IFSU), and Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC).
Dr. Ngohayon raised the CRUS issue in the meeting to request RDC for inputs and to support the endeavor after massive consultation and discussion to different stakeholders.
Dr. Ngohayon further explained that this initiative strongly supports President Aquino's budget priorities in public higher education focused on five sectors of specialization: electronics and semi-conductor, business process outsourcing, tourism, agriculture and forestry, and infrastructure.

i heard the same story in Rizal province where there the word "system" applies to the university. The so-called University of Rizal System (URS). I hope the purpose of putting the same system in the Cordillera will better develop the capacity of colleges and universities to unite for a shared goal. keep up!!
