KIANGAN, Ifugao,Mar. 11(PIA) -- The Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) here denounced the highway robbery committed by ten unidentified armed men at the road located in Sitio Indalmugan of Barangay Julongan this municipality  recently.
On Motion of Councilor Noel Dulnuan, Chair of the Sangguniang Bayan’s Peace and Order Committee, the MPOC passed a resolution condemning the robbery-holdup committed last February 26. It  stated that the hold-up incident perpetrated by these unidentified people was an act that is a serious crime in violation of the Integrated Area/Community Public Safety Plan which is the municipality’s blue print for the protection of lives and properties of the people within the jurisdiction of Kiangan.
The act said Councilor Dulnuan undermined the municipality’s quest for a progressive tourism industry and its pursuit for a conducive investment atmosphere hence this incident should be condemned and should not be repeated because of its grave effect on development drives and peacekeeping efforts.
The robbery happened  between the road boundary separating Kiangan and the  town of Tinoc  when ten fully armed men wearing camouflage pants and jackets and masked with bonnets established a checkpoint at this uninhabited area of the road and began robbing all vehicles including motorcycle people passing the place. Their last victms  were  passengers of the mini-bus coming from Tinoc in the early afternoon of the said date.
The Kiangan Police personnel responded but the holduppers had  already fled. Police investigation disclosed that the robbers were able to take more than P400,000.00 in cash, one laptop computer and 20 cell phones from their victims.(DBC/PIA-Ifugao)
