IFUGAO grapplers are keen on staging another dominant performance as they set higher goals for the upcoming 2014 Batang Pinoy-Luzon Leg slated November 11-15 at the Metro Naga Sports Complex in Naga City.
With just weeks of preparations left before the national sports contest, Hungduan based wrestlers gear up as they chase for a glorious outing in the grassroots sports competition backed by the Philippine Olympic Committee and Philippine Sports Commission.
Hungduan wrestling team coach and manager Marilyn Buyucan told Sun.Star Baguio the Hungduan Wrestling Team is all set for the Luzon qualifying leg of Batang Pinoy this year.
“We are setting to keep the children focused, we want to highlight the competition with a lot of successful performances the same as we did last year,” Buyucan said.

6 killed, 3 wounded in Ifugao clash

CAMP MELCHOR F. DELA CRUZ, Gamu, Isabela – Four New People’s Army (NPA) rebels and two soldiers were killed while three other Army troopers, including a junior officer, were wounded in a gun battle at Sitio Landing, Barangay Camandag in Asipulo, Ifugao province, Tuesday morning.

Captain Jefferson Somera, the civil military officer of the Army’s 54th Infantry Batallion, identified one of the four dead rebels as Joel Botingwon, a member of the NPA operating in Ifugao and resident of Sitio Hikot, Barangay Camandag.
Somera identified the killed soldiers as Private First Class (Pfc.) James C. En-ale of Tadian, Mountain Province, and Pfc. Mark Anthony Padtu of Paniqui, Tarlac.
Wounded were First Lieutenant Roland M. Carinan, Pfcs. John Ryl Discaya and Raphy Anongos, all members of the Army’s 54th Infantry Battalion.

Ifugao officials sued over P3M fertilizer fund scam

MANILA - The Office of the Ombudsman has found probable cause to file criminal charges against officials of the municipality of Hingyon, Ifugao for the irregular procurement of P3.25 million worth of fertilizers in 2004.
Former Mayor Alex Kindipan, Municipal Teasurer Henry Gano, and Municipal Accountant Maria Nilda Deloy were charged for violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act as well as the Government Procurement Reform Act.
